Chinese Weddings
Chinese wedding and banquet venues across the GTA
A GTA Chinese wedding usually splits in two: a morning tea ceremony and door games at home or a hotel, then an evening banquet at a Chinese restaurant or ballroom. Orchid has photographed across GTA venues — from classical buildings like Knox College to Casa Loma and Graydon Hall, to the warm-lit banquet halls of large Chinese restaurants. We know the light and the flow at each.

Venue types — and what changes for the photography
Each kind of venue lights a room and moves a crowd differently. Here is what we plan for.
Classical buildings
High ceilings, large windows, strong daylight — generous for portraits and group photos, with room for the ceremony to breathe.
Hotel ballrooms
Controlled, even light and space for a large guest list — flexible for both a daytime tea ceremony and an evening banquet under one roof.
Chinese restaurants
Warm, low light and dense seating, where red is hardest to render true. This is craft we’ve handled hundreds of times.
Venues we’ve photographed
We’ve worked across these GTA venues and others. Each links through to its gallery.
A few photography-related things to check when choosing
Ceiling height, the available light, whether there’s a quiet space for the tea ceremony, and a clean path for group photos — these affect the pictures more than most couples expect. We’re happy to weigh in early.
Common questions
Yes — warm, low banquet light is exactly what we’re set up for. We expose for honest skin and true red so the 秀禾褂 thread and the faces during the tea ceremony stay sharp.
Some classical or public venues do; most restaurants and hotels don’t. We’ll flag it if a venue you’re considering typically requires one, so there are no surprises on the day.
We plan the transition into the timeline — travel time, a place to change, and a margin so the banquet doesn’t start under pressure. A little buffer between venues keeps the whole day calm.
