Bride and groom on a garden bridge before the Tudor stone tower at Old Mill Toronto

Amber

Old Mill Toronto

Some places you simply photograph. Old Mill Toronto you let set the tone. Tudor stone and leaded glass, a fountain tucked into the garden, a great hall lined in dark wood — it carries the weight of an older Toronto, and Amber's wedding settled into it as though the day had always belonged there.

The Ceremony

The ceremony unfolded in the chapel, where light came through the stained glass and the aisle was edged in white blooms. There were vows read by candlelight, a first kiss, and then the particular sound a room makes when everyone exhales at once — hands in the air, the recessional more celebration than procession.

Portraits in the Garden

Afterward we moved into the grounds. The gardens were full and green, the stone façade behind every frame, and between them the couple had the kind of quiet that doesn't need directing — a forehead resting against a forehead, a held hand on a footbridge, a bride laughing into her bouquet.

The Celebration

Dinner was in the panelled hall — long tables, candlelight, florals running the length of the room. Amber changed into a softer second dress, the cake was cut, and the evening loosened into the warm, unhurried hours the best weddings always find their way to.
