Yoko & Ricky
Hart House, University of Toronto
Most weddings have a moment people talk about afterward. The dress. The first kiss. The speech that made the room cry. Yoko and Ricky's wedding at Hart House had all of those — but the one that stayed with us happened halfway through dinner, when Ricky picked up a guitar.
Hart House is one of those venues that doesn't try to impress you. Built in 1919, it simply exists — stone arches, vaulted corridors, a Great Hall with timber ceilings that have absorbed a century of significant evenings.
The ceremony took place in Hart House's outdoor courtyard — white chairs, a blush floral arch, a string quartet tucked into the corner where two stone walls met. When Yoko read her vows, she looked down at the paper for a moment and smiled, the way people do when the words they've written have become more real than they expected.
The night ended with cake, a first dance under the timber ceiling, and the kind of joy that doesn't need a caption.
